Read Only or Edit prompt in custom link in SharePoint List

Hi,

When a hyperlink is clicked from a SharePoint list a file download dialog (Open/Save/Cancel) is shown. When the document is clicked directly from SharePoint document library  a Read-Only/Edit dialog is shown.

Is it possible to create a link also show a Read-Only/Edit dialog box?
