I recently managed to break access to our SharePoint installation by messing with the authentication settings in central administration.
This was fixed by restoring an earlier version of the web.config file on the Sharepoint server.
However, since this change, I have had some problems using SharePoint Designer.
I get the error:
"The Web server at "<var>Web site collection URL</var>" does not appear to have Microsoft SharePoint Foundation installed."
I know there is a published fix to this at: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/981223
However, when I went through the steps specified in this fix, it broke all access to SharePoint again and I had to restore an earlier version of the web.config file again to get it back.
I am trying to examine why a workflow seems to have stopped working. It stopped working at around the same time as the troubles outlined above so it may well be a symptom of the same problem.
When I try to publish the workflow, I get:

Then, when I 'OK' that message, I get:

Any help will be very gratefully received
Thank you
